Preparation for the Aggregation of Physics and Chemistry, Chemistry option
Academic year 2022-2023
The Centre de Préparation à l’Agrégation de Chimie (CEPAC) brings together Sorbonne Université, Université Paris-Saclay and Ecole normale supérieure rue d’Ulm.
In 2021-2022, the CEPAC organizes the preparation of 12 students to the agregation of Physics and Chemistry, Chemistry option. This preparation takes place on the Montrouge campus (ENS, Agrégation de Chimie, 1 rue Maurice Arnoux 92120 Montrouge).
Results
Due to its outstanding success rate, our center is one of the best site to prepare for the Aggregation of Chemistry. Every year, it fills a large part of the positions to be filled in the competition, regardless of the origin of the candidates’ training (internal to the ENS or external).
Our requirements are double : obtain the agrégation and at the highest rank.
For the 2021 session, the success rate is 100% with the following ranks: 1; 4; 5; 6; 7; 12; 13; 15; 18; 21 for 38 places.
For the 2020 session, the success rate is 79% with the following ranks: 1; 1*; 8; 11; 13; 19; 21; 23; 24; 34; 35 for 38 places. (*special doctoral aggregation)
For the 2019 session, the success rate is 82% with the following ranks: 1; 5; 6; 9; 22; 24; 25; 26; 27; 28; 31; 32; 36; 38 for 38 places.
For the 2018 session, the success rate is 73% with the following ranks: 1; 10; 11; 13; 20; 24; 26; 28 for 29 spots.
For the 2017 session, the success rate is 73% with the following ranks: 7; 8; 10; 17; 19; 31; 33; 35 for 35 places.
For the 2016 session, the success rate is 91% with the following ranks: 1; 2; 7; 9; 18; 21; 28; 29; 32 and 33 for 40 places.
For the 2015 session, the success rate is 83% with the following ranks: 6; 8; 8; 10; 15; 19; 21; 31; 32 and 36 for 36 spots.
For the 2014 session, the success rate is 70% with the following ranks: 1; 4; 5; 10; 20; 24 and 28 for 30 spots.
Finally, over 2 years, our success rate is 100%.
Formation
The preparation to the agregation is a full-time activity to which the students vow to regularly follow during the academic year. This preparation includes practical work, lesson presentations, set-ups and assignments in physics, general, organic and inorganic chemistry. All of the classes combined amount to approximately 30 hours per week between september and march (before the written exams) ; between april and june, the classes focus on the preparation to the oral exam (presentations of lessons and montages). Candidates are notified that the required workload is significant.
The strong points of our training:
- A library reserved for agrégatifs: more than 8000 works, including some “classics” in sufficient quantity for each agrégatif; no need to invest in books!
- A solid training in writing: written exam or homework every week in addition to a week of mock aggregation
- An efficient experimental training with modern equipment (NMR, Fluorimeter, FT-IR, UV, double column GC, multi-point rotating electrode …): weekly practical sessions to train on the precise gestures required by the competition.
- Workrooms with books, computers and internet connection available 24/24
- Teachers from various backgrounds, including several Agrégés Préparateurs who have passed the exam with flying colors in recent years.
- Individual preparation in oral communication to gain confidence and be effective on the day of the exam.
- A specific preparation in pedagogy by a teacher in post.
