Short bio

I received my PhD in Chemical Engineering at Virginia Tech in 2014, and thereafter was working as a researcher in University of Geneva, Switzerland, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. In 2018, I started working in Laboratoire Matière et Systèmes Complexes Université Paris Diderot. Prior to these, I studied Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc., at Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran, and Thermal and Fluids Engineering, M.Eng., at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. I have experience in physical chemistry, interfacial soft matter physics, polymers, ionic liquids, tribology, surface interaction forces, and in engineering of new analytical devices.

My current research focuses on three directions:

  1. Interaction of lung epithelial cells with nanoparticles
  2. Development of a lab-on-a-chip model of alveoli
  3. u-rheology of human pulmonary mucus

Techniques that are currently used: cell culture and immunostaining, epifluorescence and confocal microscopy, transmission electron microcopy, scanning electron microscopy, lithography, active u-rheology

Education and professional experience

  • PhD: Chemical Engineering, Virginia Tech, 2014
  • MEng: Thermal and Fluids Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, 2010
  • BSc: Mechanical Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology, 2008

Research interests

  • Interfacial soft matter physics
  • Mechano-biology
  • Development of new analytical devices
