Fundamental aspects in mass spectrometry and development of methodological tools

Printer-friendly version

Mass Spectrometry (MS) is used as an analysis tool to understand ionisation of molecules and to quantifiy small peptides. The following four main topics are developped.

1. Peptide fragmentation and ion production mechanisms in Matrix Assited Laser Desorption Ionisation (MALDI).

2. Proteomic Analysis: identification and characterization of soluble and membrane proteins.

3. Analysis by MS of post-translational protein modifications (phosphorylation, acylation, disulfide bridge, L or D-amino acid).

4. Quantification by MS of intracellular peptides or proteins.
