Multimodal probes for biological applications
A postdoctoral position is available to work on a collaborative project (PSL Chimie) between two teams: team “Structure and Fluorescent Probes” (director: Dr. M-P. Teulade-Fichou) at the Chemistry Modeling and Imaging for Biology (UMR9187-U1196, Institut Curie) and “Inorganic cellular chemistry” (director: Pr. C. Policar) group, part of team 1 ‘Peptide, Glycoconjugates and Metals in Biology’ at Laboratoire des Biomolécules (UMR7203, CNRS, ENS Paris, UMPC).
The project is focused on the development of new multimodal probes for biological applications in live and fixed cells. The overall project involves the design and synthesis of the probes, the full characterization of their photophysical properties and their imaging in biological environments through different modalities: conventional and two-photon excitation fluorescence, infra-red spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence imaging.
As the post-doctoral fellow will be mainly involved in the cell imaging part, an expertise in biochemistry, cell culture and optical (fluorescence) spectroscopy is required, along with basic knowledge in organic-bioorganic chemistry and biological applications of molecular fluorescence. The candidate will be part of the two teams involved in the project and will share his/her time between the two labs and other imaging facilities. Strong motivation, adaptability and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
The position is open for 18 months with a starting date in September 2017. Applicants are required to send a CV with references and a cover letter as soon as possible.
