P.A.S.T.E.U.R. does not stand for Louis Pasteur’s name but is the acronym of the French title of our UMR: “Processus d’Activation Sélective par Transfert d’Energie Uni-électronique ou Radiatif” which was introduced by Christian Amatore, the former director of the UMR.
However the acronym P.A.S.T.E.U.R. is obviously a “clin d’oeil” to Louis Pasteur who was not caring if his research topics where classified in chemistry, in biology, in medicine or in agriculture. Even if the acronym of the title of our UMR 8640  is quite far from its evocation, it still carries the concept that every molecular activation is chemical, whatever it occur under chemical, physical or biological conditions
